Learning from home: Handwriting & Spelling 3.11.20

Good morning Year 4,

Today, in Handwriting & Spelling, we are continuing to focus on Suffixes.

In Handwriting, we will be concentrating on using our cursive script correctly to join the letters ‘f’ ‘u’ and ‘l’. This creates the suffix ‘ful’ which means ‘full of’.

Handwriting learning

Use this to warm up your hands before writing!

Before we move onto our spelling, can you remember what a suffix is? What is their purpose in a word? Where do they go in a word?

Make sure to continue to try your hardest and challenge yourself and your learning with the extension task:

Learning from home: Handwriting and Spelling 2.11.20

Good morning Year 4,

We hope that you are well and keeping okay whilst you are isolating at home.

Throughout this week, in Handwriting & Spelling, we will be focusing on the suffixes: -ly, -ful and -less.

As we learned at the end of last term, prefixes are a group of letters which go at the beginning of a word to change the meaning and spelling of the root word. If this is the case, can you have a think about what a suffix might be?

Let’s give our hands and fingers a warm up so that they are ready to practise writing to our best ability –

Before we have a go at the handwriting activity, can you remember what an ascender letter is and what a descender letter is?

Well done!
